About
My name is Erin Weed, and I am a speaker, author and Founder of Girls Fight Back! GFB is a women’s safety and self-defense education company, and I travel the nation giving seminars that teach women to lead safe and strong lives. I founded it after the murder of my dear friend, Shannon McNamara in 2001. In 2006, I published a book called Girls Fight Back! The College Girl’s Guide to Protecting Herself and am currently writing my second book. (On days that I’m not running around the country speaking…so it’s a slow process!)
As you might imagine, I do a lot of media interviews. This summer I was a guest on a radio show here in Denver, and at the end of the show the Host asked me to be his guest co-host. I was psyched, because I’ve always loved radio. In fact, it was my lifelong dream to work in broadcasting until Shannon was murdered…and whereupon my life took a very different direction. But it seemed as if another door was opening, and things had come full circle. After a month of being his co-host, I decided that I wanted a show of my own to discuss women’s issues. Upon investigating the other women’s shows on the radio, I didn’t find many options. And the ones that did exist were kinda man-hating and bra-burning, if you know what I’m sayin’. So I decided that my show would appreciate all people and viewpoints, and feature issues and stories of real women facing real challenges.
The show airs every Sunday thereafter from 2-3 pm Mountain Time. You can listen in the Denver area on AM 760, or anywhere in the world streaming live on the internet at www.am760.net. And we want to hear from you, so call in to the show and tell us what’s on your mind!
Thanks in advance for listening!
